Green House Framing is dedicated to sustainable practices, animal welfare, and the environment. Every step we take has been thoughtfully considered, so that we can produce the highest quality product with the least amount of harm to our planet and its inhabitants.
Business Practices
- Our website is hosted by Canvas Dreams and is 100% wind powered
- We purchase 100% clean and renewable energy from Pacific Power
- We ONLY use paper products that are tree-free or 100% post-consumer recycled
- We use energy efficient fluorescent bulbs for all lighting in our shop and studio
- We offer conservation framing services to protect art for generations
- We drive a super fuel efficient compact car for deliveries and appointments.
- All other products used in our business operations are fair trade and animal and earth friendly
- All waste is reused and recycled when possible with very little ever ending up in our trash bins
- We compost all of our wood and food scraps including all sawdust
- Our scrap wood is made into other frames and we have designed a line of jewelry to use of the last remaining bits of wood
- All of our shipping boxes are reclaimed from prior use + overstock
- We use biodegradable cornstarch packing peanuts
Framing and Matting Materials
- All of our wood is reclaimed from prior use in the Pacific Northwest
- All of our finishes are natural, fair trade, easily renewable, and animal friendly
- Our easel backs are custom made for us from 100% post consumer recycled chip board
- We only use Cotton Rag Matting which is conservation quality and is made from annually renewable cotton fiber
- We use 100% recycled Kraft paper for dust covers
- We purchase all of our glass and framing supplies from local suppliers
- We built our own studio and shop using reclaimed lumber for all tables and legs, recycled carpet as table covers, zero v.o.c. and solvent free wall paint, natural linoleum flooring in studio, recycled rubber mat flooring for the shop, and we use desks purchased from secondhand stores
