When we received a call from The Joinery in Portland earlier this year inquiring about framing, we were thrilled. If you don’t know about The Joinery, get on over to their website or showroom in Woodstock. They handcraft some of the most beautiful furniture we have ever seen.
The Joinery is a company that truly walks the walk with their environmental commitment. They use FSC certified lumber, locally harvested Madrone and Walnut, along with some reclaimed woods. They wanted to find a use for their scrap wood and thought picture frames would be a good product. They asked us if we would be willing to make a line of frames that they designed, and we jumped at the chance. Since we only use reclaimed wood, we are limited in the different species we can find to work with. Handcrafting frames from these amazing hardwoods was a wonderful change of pace. We hope they are well received, so that we can continue to work with these beautiful woods.
The resulting collection can be purchased only at The Joinery. Available sizes are 5 x 7’s, 8 x 10’s, and 11 x 13’s. The 8 x 10’s and 11 x 13’s also include Cotton Rag Matting. The various wood species in this batch are Madrone, Oak, Cherry, Walnut, and Maple. Go check out their showroom in SE Portland.
