A few months ago, Lars and I visited a local shop to get some sentimental artwork tattooed. We settled on Skeleton Key Tattoo after meeting with artist/owner, Ximena Quiroz. I was a little nervous at first, but Ximena’s calm and friendly disposition quickly put me at ease. Final result? It was a great experience for us both, and we would highly recommend Skeleton Key Tattoo to anyone in Portland looking for a studio that is comfortable and supportive. No attitude here and there is always great music playing. As a thank to you Ximena for her services (you should always tip your tattoo artist), we offered to frame anything of her choosing. She handed off this limited edition poster from a show at a venue in Portland.
We wanted to accentuate the boldness of the red ink and the crispness of the white background, so we mixed a custom stain that would match the red. To protect the print from the environment, we used conservation glass, spacers, cotton rag backing, and a dust cover. The wood for this particular moulding is reclaimed Douglas Fir and came from the deconstructed Muir and McDonald Tannery in Dallas, Oregon.
